By June 2020, the Survey and clearance process of the Korea-Vietnam Mine Action Project had achieved many results.

Specifically, land in selected districts and communes in Quang Binh and Binh Dinh provinces has been surveyed and cleared for human development and local livelihoods.

Notable activities are capacity building training on KSRP, quality management for all KSRP teams, equipping and mobilizing KSRP teams to deploy the tasks in Quang Binh and Binh Dinh. As well as developing a system of priority criteria for KSRP on the basis of humanitarian and development priorities to select KSRPs in localities.

Gradually handing over decontaminated land to the locality for human development and livelihoods. Forces implementing survey and clearance work at the two construction sites of Quang Binh and Binh Dinh: In 2018: focus on surveying with 21 teams; In 2019: 21 survey teams, 64 clearance teams; In 2020: The technical survey activities will be completed in April 2020 and the focus of the technical investigation teams will be moved to clear the total number of clearance teams is 85 teams; the completed surveyed area of the whole project as of early June 2020 is: 16,880 ha; Clearance area completed by the whole project as of early June 2020 is: 5,194 ha.

Applied the setting of priorities in the selection of survey sites, as a premise for clearance of polluted areas on higher priority land areas for development purposes for the general public good.

Currently, the quality of the KS&RP teams in the field is constantly improving through specialist training sessions on the process, the use of KS&RP facilities and quality management.

The Quality Management Software (QM) has been developed and completed for the technical engineering work and RPBM and then handed it over to VNMAC for application in project management. In August 2020, the final version software and all software data will be handed over to VNMAC.

Organizing periodic inspection field trips to Quang Binh and Binh Dinh to promptly monitor, update, evaluate, comment, and adjust on-going activities in the field.

Construction units comply with regulations, processes, solidarity and ensuring absolute safety for people and equipment. Strictly obeying local laws, regulations and customs. Land is handed over to the locality after KS&RP.

Currently, VNMAC and UNDP are cooperating with the two provinces of Quang Binh and Binh Dinh to collect information on land use plans and continue to be implemented in 2020.
