In particular, the project "Korea-Vietnam Mine Action Project" that is implemented in Binh Dinh has brought many positive results. Specifically, the coordination of propaganda and raising awareness for the people has been well coordinated by the units, localities in the province and the Project Management Board.
In which, more than 5,500 primary and secondary education administrators and teachers have been trained on integrating risk education of mines/UXO in the curriculum. After that, the schools have organized the integration of this content education into the subjects and extracurricular activities.
With the local efforts and the support of the KVMAP project ever since 2010, Binh Dinh province has conducted survey and clearance of mines/UXO on an area of 15,200 ha. Particularly from 2019 up to now, the Ministry of Military Affairs of the province has discovered and processed nearly 40,090 mines/UXO of all kinds.
“In the first component of the project, the Provincial Military Headquarters has technically surveyed nearly 9,700 hectares in localities in the province, there are nearly 4,125 hectares of land contaminated with mines/UXO. In particular, only clearing on an area of 1,000 hectares of key areas with conditions for socio-economic development in the locality has obtained 12,325 mines/UXO. That shows that the level of mines/UXO pollution in the province is still quite high, with potential risks”, said Major Nguyen Van Hung, Head of Industry (Ministry of Military Affairs of the province).
According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Thanh, in the period 2021 - 2025, the province will continue to determine the location and area to be cleared for mines and bombs according to the needs of local socio-economic development; conducting technical surveys, making construction technical plans; division of the clearance volume of boms/UXO by each year; mobilize all resources, with priority given to calling for international resources to step by step complete on schedule.
