Communication messages to people must have practical and consistent meanings for people to understand correctly.

The basic contents of communication activities in the KVMAP project

Information communicated should be action-oriented, and the recipient of the message can easily follow and follow the instructions. In other words, communication needs to lead to changing the target group's behaviour, allowing them to practice safer behaviours.

Focusing on the right target audience with the right methods to bring the best results. Different target groups need to know what they need to do. Instructions are suitable for the context and characteristics of each group.

The communication message needs to be simple, consistent and suitable with the level and ability of people to understand and absorb. Special attention should be given to children and populations at higher risk of being involved in mine / UXO incidents, including common workers, farmers and women.

Mine accident prevention education requires coordination between partners such as the Provincial People's Committee, departments, communes, wards, schools ... Good coordination in mine risk education This means that project partners adopt the same approach, including the same message, the same tools. By taking this approach, it increases cohesion, avoids duplication or coverage, avoids unfair competition, and minimizes the risks of using messages or wrong tool.

People in mine / UXO contaminated areas need to know how to manage risks and protect themselves. It is the responsibility of the local authorities; the PMU needs to provide them with mine risk information in various formats.

Additionally, mine risk education needs to be cost-effective and measurable. Interventions need to be logically, and evidence based. Interventions need to deliver behavioural and health outcomes.

Encourage creative implementation, in order to reduce costs without compromising the quality of the operation. Equality must be taken into account when implementing mine / UXO risk education, for example, the need to reach the most inaccessible group.

There are different tools for measuring the effectiveness of interventions, including conducting knowledge, attitudes and behavioural assessments. Document and collect success stories, positives, monitoring tools, and other tools.
