75 years from its establishment (24/10/1945-24/10/2020), the United Nations has proved its role as a reputable, diverse, and large-scale global organization, with participation from nearly every independent nation.
Brigadier General Tran Trung Hoa, Director of VNMAC and Mrs. Caitlin Wiesen, UNDP Resident Representative in Vietnam for the 75th Anniversary of United Nations.
The role and operation of the UN have expanded holistically to fulfill its purposes of maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples; therefore, to bring about major positive impacts to global and nations lives, and to forge immense changes to world peace and prosperity.
At the anniversary, Mr. Kamal Maholtra, UN Resident coordinator in Vietnam stated that Vietnam has successfully suppressed the spread of Covid-19, and is leading the world in UN national-level innovation over the last 10 years. In the coming period, organizations of the UN in Vietnam will further research and provide Vietnam with timely consultation on socio-economic development for the next stages.
Also, at the anniversary, Brigadier General Tran Trung Hoa, has exchanged with Mrs. Caitlin Wiesen on operation results of the Korea – Vietnam Mine Action Project after 3 years of initiation and further plans of the project during 2021.
Brigadier General Tran Trung Hoa and Mrs. Caitlin Wiesen highlighted the importance of the Korea-Vietnam Mine Action Project and agreed to facilitate the project’s components, while increasing the number of disposal teams in Quang Binh and Binh Dinh provinces, accelerating clearance rate and handing over cleared land to the provinces to promote local socio-economic development.
