Quang Binh: Launching of the contest of School Ambassador in raising awareness about preventing accidents from bombs and mines for students in 2020

The purpose of the contest is to build a rewarding playground, to help students learn and express themselves, to raise awareness to relatives and the community on issues related to safety knowledge in regard to bombs and explosives left from the war.
 
Quang Binh: Launching of the contest of School Ambassador in raising awareness about preventing accidents from bombs and mines for students in 2020

Official Dispatch No. 11129 / PC-NC dated June 30, 2020 of the People's Committee of Quang Binh province provide the direction to coordinate the implementation of raising awareness activities to prevent mine and UXO incidents under the Korea-Vietnam Mine Action project. This is pursuant to the Plan No. 1414 / KH -PC dated September 12, 2020 of the People's Committee of Quang Binh province on the promulgation of the Plan on overcoming consequences of mines and UXO for the period 2021 - 2025. Furthermore, in pursuant to the Cooperation Agreement No. 20 / TTHT / VNMAC-SGDQB / 2020 dated 10/7/2020 which was signed between the Korea-Vietnam Mine Action Project with Quang Binh Department of Education and Training, Department of Education and Training in coordination with other units to organize the contest "All schools on raising awareness to prevent accidents from bombs and mines for students".

The contest encourages students' creativity through choosing the form and content to highlight messages on topics such as composing transmission, composing pictures, poems, presentations, photoshow (maximum 10 photos), filmmaking, play writing, storytelling, dance clips, singing, acting, or other forms of art creation according to the theme of the contest.

Contest entries are emailed to the Organizing Committee in the form of photo files or short videos. Information about the contest will be posted on the website of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Binh province and of the Project.
The theme of the contest is: “My initiative in raising awareness to build a safe community,and reduce the risk of landmine / UXO accidents.

Participants are students aged 8 - 15 years old (from grades 4 to 9), of schools under the project who participate in the contest voluntarily. The contest organizers encourage students from non-project schools to submit products to participate in the contest as well.

Students can participate individually or in groups, with either a single student or a group can submit one or more entries at different weeks.

Weekly awards: Each week, there will be 03 awards given to the 03 best entries. The prize is usually a gift that is worth 500,000 VND.

Award for the final round: The Organizing Committee will select from 18 excellent entries in 06 weekly competitions to award 01 first prize, 02 second prizes, 03 third prizes and 12 consolation prizes.

The first prize is worth 1,500,000 VND, the second prize is 1,000,000 VND, the third prize is worth 700,000 VND and the consolation prize is worth 300,000 VND (prizes are exchanged in physical presents).

Competition period: From 12/12/2020 to 22/11/2020 (6 weeks).

How to send contest entries: The school launches the contest and gathers the contest entries of their school according to each category, compresses into files and send to the Organizing Committee via email (sent once a week). Applications are named according to school name, author, age ... (eg thdongmy-levantan-10). Based on the time the school sends, the organizers will score the products in the respective week.

Entries are sent directly via email of the competition hosts at: daisuhocduong2020@gmail.com. The organizers do not accept any contest entries by any other forms; entries are sent by school email (for schools participating in the Project) or personal email (for candidates outside the Project).

Organizing Committee and Jury include: Representatives of the Department of Education and Training, VNMAC, UNDP, Department of Information and Communication, Provincial Children's House.

Other regulations include entries must be original and authentic, not plagiarised or used any form from other people's products.

The organizers have the right to use the contest entries in their own bombs/UXO accident prevention communication activities in the school and the community.

Award-winning entries will be announced and displayed in the World Mine Awareness Day Response Event in 2021.

Prized entries of the weeks and of the final contenders’ entries will be posted on the digital portal of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Binh province, KVMAP Project, UNDP and the UNDP Fanpage, Twitter, and Instagram.
