KOICA Director Cho Han Deog shared with VNMAC General Director - Mr. Tran Trung Hoa, the results achieved so far of the KVMAP project components including mine clearance results, awareness education risks from mines / UXO for the people, support for remaining victims of mines / UXO, etc.
Mr. Cho Han Deog also expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense and the Vietnam National Mine Action Center for their constant attention and support to the project's work smoothly.
In addition, Mr. Cho Han Deog expressed his wish to discuss with organizations such as VNMAC and UNDP in the future about the direction of continuing to support the implementation of new projects on overcoming the consequences of war because this is not a matter that can be completely resolved in a short period of time.
VNMAC General Director, Mr. Tran Trung Hoa expresses his sincere thanks to KOICA, emphasizing that the bomb and mine recovery project sponsored by KOICA is contributing a part to socio-economic development in Quang Binh and Binh Dinh provinces. At the same time, they are committed to guaranteeing the success of the project.
Mr. Tran Trung Hoa agreed on the importance of looking for successive projects in the future and affirmed that VNMAC will urgently discuss and implement the necessary work and related procedures.
The Korea-Vietnam Mine Action Project is being implemented in Quang Binh and Binh Dinh - two provinces that suffer the most from the consequences of the war.
By June 2020, the project has completed a clearance survey for 16,880ha of landmine-contaminated area and completed clearance of 5,584ha in the project area. In addition, in May 2020, KOICA provided emergency supplies to the mine / UXO survivors whose livelihoods were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
