Vietnam and South Korea cooperate to recover from post-war bombs, mines

The Ministry of Defense of Vietnam and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Vietnam signed an agreement on overcoming post-war bombs and mines on Tuesday in Hanoi.

The 5-year project, expected to begin in 2016, aims to improve management capacity of the Vietnam National Mine Action Center (VNMAC), clear bombs and mines on an area of 8,000 ha in Quang Binh and Binh Dinh province, raise public awareness of the danger of bombs and mines, and help victims reintegrate into the community.

The KOICA will give 20 million USD in non-refundable aid to the VNMAC to carry out project management and finance, demining and bomb disposal, supporting post-war bombs and mines survivors, and educating people to prevent accidents from bombs and mines.

Others
