At the meeting, General Vinh affirmed that the traditional friendship and the Vietnam-RoK strategic partnership have been developed in various fields, including defense cooperation. He also hoped that the RoK will continue to implement projects to help Vietnam overcome the war legacies.

The Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister highly appreciated Kim Jin-oh's contributions over past three years in Vietnam and KOICA's role in developing cooperative relations between the two countries.

The two sides reviewed cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) in addressing war consequences in Vietnam, including a 20-million-USD project funded by the RoK Government to clean up areas contaminated with unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the central provinces of Quang Binh and Binh Dinh, and another for detoxifying the dioxin-polluted area around Da Nang airport.

The two sides agreed to continue to enhance cooperation in the coming time, focusing on expanding the project to Quang Nam and Quang Tri provinces, and implement a technical assistance project to detoxify dioxin-contaminated areas at A Sho airport in the central province of Thua Thien - Hue.

For his part, Kim Jinoh thanked General Vinh and leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for creating favorable conditions for him to fulfill his mission as KOICA Director in Vietnam.

He also promised to continue promoting the friendly and cooperative relations between the Vietnamese MND and KOICA in particular and between the two countries in general.
